Corellium offers cloud-based products using Amazon's Graviton Arm servers, designed to meet your hosting and data governance needs. Corellium operates its cloud offerings in two ways: a multi-tenant SaaS environment and dedicated Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) environments. The main differences are tenancy and storage which combine to influence performance.

Multi-Tenant SaaS​

The multi-tenant SaaS environment is a shared, multi-node environment managed by Corellium. It runs Corellium Solo, Corellium Viper and Falcon trials and proofs of concept, and the 10-core Virtual Desktop (Viper or Falcon).

Primary storage in this environment is AWS S3. S3 storage is significantly less performant than the storage used in VPC environments, so virtual devices may feel slow or laggy at times when disk access is required.

Solo, Trial and Proof of Concept​

Corellium Solo plans, and Corellium Viper and Falcon trials and proofs of concept, run in the multi-tenant SaaS environment. Trial and Solo plans use the app.corellium.com domain.

Virtual Desktop​

The Virtual Desktop is a cloud-hosted equivalent of the Desktop Appliance, providing 10 cores with Corellium Viper or Falcon. It runs in the multi-tenant SaaS environment and receives a custom Enterprise domain, e.g. acme.enterprise.corellium.com. Virtual Desktops do not support clustering. If multiple Virtual Desktops are licensed, they operate as fully independent instances. Virtual Desktops are priced per instance.

Virtual Private Cloud​

VPC environments are dedicated, not multi-tenant, single-node AWS systems. They are backed by AWS EBS (SSD-backed) storage, which is significantly faster than the S3 storage used in the multi-tenant SaaS environment. Because of the faster storage, the performance of virtual devices in a VPC environment approaches that of Corellium on-premises systems.

VPC environments support the 60-core Virtual Server. They are available in two ways, depending on who manages the environment:

  • Corellium-managed: Corellium acquires the correct platform, configures it, installs the Corellium platform, and maintains and updates the software. This is the right choice for customers with less low-level technical experience, or who prefer a managed, hosted option.
  • Self-managed: You use your own AWS account to provision the required Graviton Arm servers and manually install the Corellium platform. This requires a high level of system administration skill, including familiarity with managing AWS systems at the bare-metal configuration level and extensive Ubuntu Linux command-line experience.

Virtual Server​

The Virtual Server is a dedicated, single-tenant, 60-core environment designed to be highly available and scalable, with a focus on security and performance. Our cloud service is designed to be used by developers, researchers, and security professionals who need access to Arm devices for testing, research, and development. Scalability is afforded with the purchase of additional Virtual Server instances. Virtual Servers are priced per instance.

AWS Customer Server​

The AWS Customer Server is the self-managed version of the Corellium Virtual Server for use in your own AWS VPC. If you have purchased an AWS Customer Server product, see the setup guide. AWS Customer Servers run on Amazon EC2 C8g resources leased from AWS that are fully paid for and managed by the customer. Corellium does not manage or update these systems.

The AWS Customer Server requires significantly more technical resources than a Corellium-managed solution. You provision the Graviton Arm servers in your own AWS account and manually install the Corellium platform, so your team needs a high level of system administration skill. This includes familiarity with managing AWS systems at the bare-metal configuration level and extensive experience with the Ubuntu Linux command line. If your team has less low-level technical experience, or you prefer a managed, hosted option, consider a Corellium-managed Virtual Server instead.

AWS Customer Server pricing is per Virtual Server instance. Scalability is afforded with the purchase of additional instances. The AWS Customer Server may be installed in any region that supports the Arm Graviton 4 C8g (c8g.metal-24xl) EC2 instance type.
